About Lucy Dreams
Hello and welcome to my world.

I am Lucy Dreams, a French illustrator specialising in traditional media: watercolour, ink, coloured pencils, gouache and mixed techniques.
My work draws inspiration from Symbolism, myths, folklore, art history and illustrated books.
I enjoy creating images where poetry, storytelling and dreamlike atmospheres intertwine, with particular attention given to textures, light and intricate details.
Each illustration is entirely handmade, embracing slow creation, traditional materials and the beauty of craftsmanship.
Between Artistic Creation and Art History
Entirely self-taught in my artistic practice, I have been drawing since childhood and developing my visual universe for more than twenty-five years.
From an early age, imaginary worlds, fantasy literature, myths and visual arts deeply nourished my work.
I first began publishing illustrations in the late 1990s within the world of role-playing games and independent publishing.
Alongside my artistic practice, I pursued university studies in Art History, with a particular interest in the history of illustration and illustrated books.
This dual approach — combining artistic practice and theoretical research — still profoundly shapes the way I conceive images today.
Symbolist, Pre-Raphaelite, Medieval and Art Nouveau artworks remain among my main sources of inspiration, alongside fairy tales, European folklore, fantasy and ancient visual traditions.
Returning to What Truly Matters

After spending several years working in different professional fields, I eventually returned to what had always been essential to me: drawing and watercolour painting.
For me, creating is a way of telling stories, conveying emotions and bringing sensitive inner worlds to life through traditional techniques to which I remain deeply attached.
Today, I develop my work as an independent illustrator through personal projects, editorial collaborations and the creation of original artworks.
Why “Lucy Dreams”?
I have signed my illustrations under the pseudonym Lucy Dreams since my teenage years.
This name has accompanied my work since my earliest creations and reflects the universe that still nourishes my imagination today: dreamlike worlds, British culture, fantasy literature and symbolic imagery.
Over time, it has become far more than a pseudonym — it has become a true artistic identity.
Techniques and Artistic Universe
I work mainly on paper, favouring traditional media and handcrafted processes.
My illustrations often explore:
- myths and legends
- symbolic femininity
- fantasy worlds
- nature
- folklore
- dreamlike atmospheres
- imaginary worlds inspired by art history and ancient illustrated books
Manual work, real textures, pigments and the imperfections inherent to traditional techniques all play an essential role in my artistic approach.
