Watch me paint !
Lucy Dreams illustrator YouTube videos
For a few years now, I’ve been filming my work and making a few videos about my creative process.
Initially, most of them were made exclusively for subscribers to my Patreon sponsorship platform.
After that page was closed due to my second case of retractile shoulder capsulitis, I decided to make other videos about what goes on behind the scenes, this time for the public.
Unfortunately, it’s not an easy or quick job:
Filming your work in progress is not an uncomfortable exercise for an artist because it cuts off all spontaneity in the work.
You have to put down your pencil or brush, change the angle of view, start the recording, check the focus, pick up where you left off… and hope that the watercolour hasn’t dried out too much in the meantime if you want to work in paint that’s still damp…
Once this delicate stage is over, you have to watch all the rushes, edit them and give the whole thing a rhythm so that viewers want to see the whole creative process.
Making videos is a job in its own right that takes time, learning and a lot of humility.
I’m looking to improve little by little and in the meantime I hope you’ll find the content interesting.
The videos are placed here in ante-chronological order.
